Our business ethic...
We are committed to ensuring you enjoy your stay and that you leave us wanting to return. We both believe that the highest level of customer service, a friendly reception and high quality products are the least that our guests deserve.
Ethically we're keen to support the local community that has welcomed us so generously, and want to help preserve the environment that attracted us (and presumably you) to this area. Where possible we use local organic produce. After much thought we've decided that faced with a choice of local or organic produce we would opt for local free range sources over non-local organic produce. Our rationale is twofold: We want to support the local economy and we see little environmental benefit in buying organic produce that has incurred high transport mileage.
We're not zealots and we recognise that you're here on holiday. But we hope you might take some comfort from knowing that we do all we can to minimise the environmental impact of your visit.
Wherever possible our produce is sourced locally - for example our meat, dairy produce and vegetables come from local sources within 15 miles of Padstow. In this way we support local suppliers and help the environment by reducing transit emissions whilst providing you with the highest quality products.
Most products are delivered to us by suppliers which is a more efficient and environmentally friendly approach than the alternative of us making trips to various suppliers.
Where we do use imported produce we opt for Fair Trade brands where available.
The bottled water we supply is filtered, chilled local soft tapwater.
Where hygiene standards allow, all cleaning and washing products are ecologically sound and are not based on petro chemical materials.
Unless you request otherwise, we will change your bedding and towels after four nights in order to reduce our water consumption.
We're careful about the products we buy to run our business. We aim to reduce the amount of inherent waste we buy (packing etc.), re-use what we can and recycle as much as possible.
Our electricity comes from renewable sources.
Our laundry is accredited by the Green Tourism Scheme for Businesses.
Rainwater and a proportion of bath/shower waste is conserved and used to water the gardens.
Food waste is composted on-site.
In addition we are keen to support the local Royal National Lifeboat Institute. On our breakfast menu each day we will feature an RNLI special. For each special ordered £1 goes to the RNLI. For 2008 we are also adding a optional £1 contribution to all guest bills.
